The 40-year old duchess was seen in southern Texas on Thursday May 26, two days after Robb Elementary School had lost 19 children and two teachers. Meghan brought flowers to a display outside of the Uvalde County Courthouse, which featured the names of the shooting’s victims on white crosses adorned with blue hearts.

Meghan is just one of many celebrities to have expressed their grief since the tragedy broke news on Tuesday, May 24th. Many A-listers as well as reality stars used social media platforms to urge politicians to act.

The pair’s new venture followed their departure from their senior royal duties, which they announced in January 2020. Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry, Meghan and their 11-month old daughter Lili would not be returning as working senior royals one year later.
“Following conversations with The Duke, The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service,” an official palace statement read in February 2021.
In response, the duke and duchess asserted in a statement of their own that they will “remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role,” concluding, “We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
A source exclusively revealed that the royal couple made their exit permanent. Us Weekly that Harry “[did] not have any regrets,” adding that the former military pilot felt “liberated and excited about starting this new chapter” with his wife.
