A friendship we can’t get enough of. Matt JamesHe was the season 25 Bachelor and made a name for his self, but before that, he was introduced as Tyler Cameron‘s best friend. Cameron made his debut in Bachelor Nation during Hannah Brown‘s season of The Bachelorette, has also been James’ biggest supporter over the years.
“Congrats to my brother @mattjames919 on being named the Bachelor. This is all a testament of who you are as a person,” Cameron wrote via Instagram in June 2020 after the news broke that James was named the franchise’s first black Bachelor. He shared a photo showing the couple sleeping together in a car. “Now the world gets to see the person you are and the heart you have. You can change the world. We are proud of you and so excited about you. I am not thrilled that someone will be taking my place as your snuggle buddy. P.S. Peep the drool.”
Before being named Bachelor, the real-estate agent was a contestant. Clare Crawley‘s season of The Bachelorette. Her season, which was due to start filming in March 2020, was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. James spoke exclusively with James in April 2020. Us WeeklyAbout the adventure
“I’ve been very patient up to this point, and there is a young woman who’s in Sacramento right now that I’m looking forward to meeting once all this stuff settles down,” he said at the time. “So I’m hoping that I can be patient a little bit longer and ride this thing out and everyone’s safe and then we can get back to our daily lives and moving forward.”
However, instead, he got to meet women from all over the world as the Bachelor — and has his best friend’s support. Cameron was actually present in the room as James filmed. Good Morning AmericaAnnouncement that he was now the newest Bachelor star, as documented via Instagram Stories.
The men, who first met in college while playing for the Wake Forest University football team together, have definitely had their fair shares of adventures together — and Cameron gave his pal advice about joining Bachelor Nation.
“Tyler is excited for Matt and has already given him some pointers and even joked about what to expect from the show,” an insider exclusively told UseFollowing the announcement. “He has told Matt to just have fun with it and let the process take its course.”
During James’ season, he met current girlfriend Rachael Kirkconnell. Cameron was also a raconteur. Use in July 2021 that he approves of Kirkconnell — calling her a “beam of light” — things have gotten slightly icy among the trio with James referring to his bestie and girlfriend’s relationship as “love-hate” on Andy Cohen Live: Watch What HappensIn May 2022.
“There’s love?” Cameron told E! NewsIn July 2022. “I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. No, Rachael’s great, and she makes Matt happy and they’re happy. And it’s fun to see, you know, them do their thing and they always are traveling and doing stuff. [Do]We have a love-hate relationship. I think it’s just we have two strong opinions [in the]Our views of things can sometimes clash with each other. But at the end of the day, we’re all cool. You know, it is what it is.”
Cameron also spoke that month. Use that he doesn’t see James as much as he used to.
“I think people think [Matt and I aren’t friends] because we’re just not in each other’s everyday lives like we used to be. I think it’s part of growing up. It’s part of entering a relationship,” he explained. “We all have those friends that they grow up, they start dating their person, they get married, they do their thing and you see him when you see him.”
