The New York Police Department is pleading for help in locating a famous YouTube star who mysteriously vanished. 29-year-old Desmond Amofah, also known as “Etika,” disappeared after posting a concerning video on his YouTube channel.

According to the New York Post, Etika’s video implied that he was going to take his own life. He continuously apologized and went into detail about his mental health issues.

“I’m sorry for leaving such a stained legacy,” he stated in the video. “I hope that my story maybe helps to make YouTube a better place in the future where people know boundaries and limits and how far things should go.”

“You know I wasn’t suicidal before — I really wasn’t. But one thing I didn’t realize was that the walls were closing around me so fast. I really had no intention of killing myself but I’d always push it too far,” he continued. “I guess I am mentally ill.”

Shortly after the video was released, the NYPD posted, “Have you seen Desmond Amofah aka Etika? He was last heard from June 19 at about 8PM by phone."

The NYPD noted that many people were “concerned” after the video was published online. The department is asking that any tips be referred to NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.

Etika has had run-ins with local law enforcement in the past. Last April, the YouTuber recorded a live stream of police and SWAT trying to enter his apartment for a welfare check. Etika did not cooperate, so police were forced to break down his door before escorting him out on a gurney.

Faith Family America’s thoughts and prayers are with Etika and his loved ones during this hard time. Please share this article on your social media page to spread awareness in hopes of bringing Etika back home safely.
