It's no secret that the McCain family and the Trump's have not always seen eye-to-eye. President Trump and the late Senator John McCain openly clashed over numerous political issues.
Meghan McCain has also spoken out against some of the President's decisions. She has definitely not been his biggest supporter, understandably so.
However, McCain just said something about President Trump that is making headlines around the nation. She revealed she is actually grateful that he is the Commander-in-Chief.
“If Trump wasn’t president, I don’t think I would be successful here,” McCain said about working on 'The View.' “For that reason, I guess I’m grateful that Trump is president. It’s just made my job a little easier because I know why it happened.”
McCain represents conservative options on the controversial show. She has openly criticized her co-hosts and has done her best to fight for conservative values amongst the liberal team.
“That I don’t concede to. Everyone is like, ‘Oh, you’re popular because of Trump.’ I think everyone is more interested in politics,” McCain said, per People magazine. “Young women are different now than when I was younger. Everyone is involved, civically engaged, and informed. I think that’s also why the show is doing so well.”
The job on "The View" is clearly taking a toll on Meghan. However, she is standing strong and fighting to keep her voice from being drowned out.
“I hope it’s in my obituary that I was the first Republican since Elisabeth Hasselbeck to survive more than one season on The View,” McCain said in Setoodeh's book released last week. “It’s one of my proudest moments.”
