A world-famous faith leader has just been admitted to the hospital for a serious reason. According to reports, the Dalai Lama has been rushed to the hospital and is said to be battling a chest infection.
"Tenzin Taklha, the Tibetan spiritual leader's personal secretary, added that the 83-year-old Buddhist monk's condition was stable. 'Today morning his holiness felt some discomfort,' he said, adding that he had been flown to a hospital in the Indian capital New Dehli from the hill town of Dharamshala where he lives," according to the Independent.
The Dalai Lama fled the country in 1959. He has maintained a massive presence in his region and throughout the world. Indian officials call him their "most esteemed and honored guest."
Doctors are said to have diagnosed him with a chest infection. He is said to be in stable condition and is expected to be treated for multiple days at the facility.
Prayers have flooded in for the Dalai Lama from around the world. Many people have been praying for his healing and have wished him the best on social media.
"Asked in a recent interview what might happen after his death, the Dalai Lama anticipated a possible attempt by Beijing to foist a successor on Tibetan Buddhists," according to reports.
