People across the globe are mourning the loss of a legend in the world of comedy. Sir Ken Dodd, the famous British entertainer, has passed away. He was 90-years-old at the time of his death.
Dodd is most well-known for his wonderfully successful comedy career and for bringing laughter to thousands of people across the world. He had recently been battling a chest infection before he passed. He was also recently released from the hospital and had returned to his home.
His death was especially heartbreaking for another tragic reason. After spending over 4 decades with the love of his life, Dodd decided to marry his longtime partner, Anne Jones. They made their relationship official this past Friday when they tied-the-knot at their home near Liverpool.
"He passed away in the home that he was born in over 90 years ago. He's never lived anywhere else. It's absolutely amazing," added Mr. Holmes.
Dodd had been in the world of comedy since 1954. He once made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for telling 1,500 jokes in three and a half hours.
Dodd was a man of many talents. Besides being an icon in British comedy, he was also an accomplished singer.
"He was a chart-topping singer too: his signature tune Happiness was released in 1964 and his single Tears was the third highest-selling song of the 1960s in Britain, beaten only by two Beatles singles," according to the BBC.
Please join us in praying for Dodd's new wife, and the rest of his friends and family. We ask for God's healing grace to comfort them during this difficult time.
