Will Smith looked pretty straight-edged up until Sunday’s Oscars. He’s married with children, working hard, and having plenty of success. But before he went “Hollywood”, he wasn’t always Mr. Perfect.
MTO News confirmed that Philly will was involved in a brutal attack on his hometown of Philadelphia in 1989. Now, almost twenty-five years later new details are being released.
According to police, Will had a verbal dispute over William Hendricks, a record promoter. This led to Will allegedly allegedly ordering that his bodyguard, Charles “Charlie Mack” Alston to attack him.

According to the producer, he suffered a fracture in his left eye orbit. He was taken to hospital and given six stitches.
Will, who was just days away from winning his first Grammy Award, was taken into custody and charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering other persons, aggravated attack, and criminal conspiracy.
Will was able to get the charges dropped later.
“Will had to spend a night in the cell at the West Philadelphia police station with other inmates waking him up all night long and asking for his autograph,” an insider tells the National Enquirer regarding Will’s prison stay. “It was the worst night of his life. He wants to forget it ever happened.”
In a 2005 interview, Will opened up about the assault saying, “It wasn’t my fault. That’s what they all say! But it wasn’t my fault. This is Philly. This dude was beaten up by one of my buddies, and I was there. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.”
It sounds as if Will was really interested in that life by adding that last sentence. . .
