Will Smith was one of the brightest stars in Hollywood last week. He’s been an actor, a man of integrity, and a husband. Now, the world is trying his down after just one act.
Will Smith had to resign from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just one week after he won The Academy Award for Best Actor for King Richard. He also slapped Chris Rock during the live broadcast…
Traci’s Son Speaks At The Funeral Her Sisters BOYCOTTED!
Will writes
I have directly responded to the Academy’s disciplinary hearing notice, and I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct. My actions at 94th Academy Awards were shocking, painful, inexcusable.
The list of people I have hurt is extensive and includes Chris, his loved ones, many of my dear friends, and all those present, as well as global audiences at home. I betrayed Academy’s trust. I denied other nominees and winners the opportunity to be recognized for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to bring the attention back to those who are worthy of praise and allow the Academy’s incredible work to support creativity and artistic expression in film. I have decided to resign from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and will accept any other consequences that the Board may deem appropriate.
Change is hard work. I will do my best to make sure that I don’t allow violence to take over reason.
Smith’s resignation means that he doesn’t have an Oscar vote, can’t take part in any Academy events, and he won’t present the Best Actress award next season, as is customary for this year’s Best Actor recipient.
No matter how you felt about the slap . . It’s time to give up on Will.
