Joan Lee, the wife of Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee has passed away. Joan died on Thursday at age of 93.

According to ABC News, a statement was released by Lee and his family which explained that Joan died peacefully on Thursday morning after suffering a stroke earlier this week. The couple had been married for an impressive 69 years. 

"I can confirm the sad news that Joan Lee passed away this morning quietly and surrounded by her family," according to a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter. "The family ask that you please give them time to grieve and respect their privacy during this difficult time."

Stan Lee is famously known for co-creating many Marvel Comics superheroes including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. He gave credit throughout the years to his wife who helped in supporting him "when he was trying to create superheroes that he and others could care about."

"We lost a member of the Marvel family today and our thoughts and prayers go out to Stan and his daughter Joan in this difficult time," Marvel said in a statement. 

Fans took to Twitter to share their condolences. It is very apparent she was well-loved and will be missed by many.
