Whole Foods, Albertsons Join Others in Food Recall Over Deadly Bacteria Concerns

October 23, 2017Oct 23, 2017

Dozens of products have been affected by a recent recall over deadly bacteria concerns. Listeria, which has been the subject of tons of major recalls this year, is now the subject of a massive recall by one of the largest vegetable suppliers in America—Mann Packing.

Mann Packing ships food products to many major store brands including Whole Foods and Albertsons. These are only two of the companies that have joined others in this nationwide recall.

The FDA stressed the seriousness of this bacteria, “Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”

It is unclear how the bacteria was discovered.

The Albertsons/Safeway recall is effective in a number of states including Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Nevada, Colorado, California, Hawaii, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The recall has impacted various seafood and vegetable products. Please call 1-888-470-2681 with any questions.
