The White House just revealed in a press briefing that President Trump is donating his entire third quarter salary. He’s giving it to Health and Human Services to aid their battle with the opioid epidemic, reported The Hill.
The acting HHS secretary Eric Hargan made the announcement during a Thursday press briefing.
He said, "His decision to donating his salary is a tribute to his compassion, to his patriotism, and his sense of duty to the American people."
Trump has pledged to donate his entire salary to various causes. So far, he has dedicated each of his quarterly $100,000 paychecks to different federal programs.
Trump previously donated his paychecks to the Education Department and the Parks Service.
“We are so pleased that President Trump has chosen to donate his salary this quarter to the planning and design of a large-scale public awareness campaign about the dangers of opioid addiction," continued Eric Hargan.
President Trump has made battling the nation’s opioid crisis one of the key planks of his presidency. He declared the crisis a “health emergency” in October.
