In recent days, the Trump-Comey feud has escalated following the release of former FBI director James Comey’s new book, “A Higher Loyalty.” The book reportedly tells Comey’s story in the White House where he slams President Trump several times.
Previously, information was leaked about the book, which mostly targeted President Trump; however, Trump responded with scathing words calling Comey a “liar” and “untruthful slimeball.” On Sunday evening, an exclusive interview with Comey aired where he further discussed the book and bashed President Trump again.
In the interview, Comey said Trump was “morally unfit to be president” and a liar. Additionally, he accused him of “staining everyone around him,” reported NBC News.
The White House responded to the fallout early Monday morning. Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway appeared in several interviews on CNN, Fox, and Good Morning America to talk about Comey’s remarks.
In her media appearances, Conway emphasized the fact that this book is simply Comey’s opinion, which was based on very few personal encounters with the President. Conway also believes that Comey didn’t properly utilize his time during those few encounters; instead of focusing on critical issues, he “sounded like he was taking notes for a book.”
“This man is trying to sell books, not save the country,” she stated on Fox News.
