Donald Trump is never one to speak softly. In his latest outburst after the most recent condemnations from the Republican presidential candidates, Trump wants the Republican Party to either stand behind him or get out of his way.
“The RNC has not been supportive”, Trump said, “They were always supportive when I was a contributor. I was their fair-haired boy. The RNC has been, I think, very foolish.”
According to this recent Blaze article, Trump is debating whether to ditch the GOP and run for president as an independent candidate. If the Republicans don’t stop attacking Trump, he has made it clear that he won’t tolerate it.
“I only want to run as a Republican”, Trump told the Blaze’s Dana Loesch, “I want to win, because that’s way we’re going to win, the best way. That being said, I will tell you so many people want me to run independent. But my total focus is to run as a Republican and to win.”
That is a threat that the Republican needs to take seriously. If Trump were to sever ties with the GOP and stage an independent run, he would undoubtedly take his fervent Republican followers along with him and therefore splinter the Republican vote and let the Democrats steal the White House. It would be a repeat of 1992 when Ross Perot’s campaign gave Bill Clinton the presidency.
Don’t do it, Donald! The only way a Conservative candidate will get elected is if the entire party is united behind the best candidate.
What do you think? Is Trump risking the fate of all republicans and ending the chance of a conservative getting into the white house? We would love to hear your thoughts!
