What Candace Cameron Bure Thinks About Trump VP Pick; Who She Wanted Instead

July 15, 2016Jul 15, 2016

Donald Trump today officially announced his pick for running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, who is often described as low-key and either fairly conservative or staunchly conservative. But it's hard to say yet if Republican voters by-in-large are excited about Trump's choice.

On "The View" today, politically conservative Candace Cameron Bure gave her opinion on Pence and offered who she would have liked Trump to pick instead.

"I think [Pence] is a smart choice in terms of trying to bridge the Republican Party back together because he does hold conservative values, he's been in office for a long time, he has a record of consist conservative choices that he's made. But, for me, I was a little disappointed only in the sense that I would have liked to see someone a little more diverse, maybe see the president and vice president a little more culturally balanced."

Then Cameron expressed who should we have liked instead: "I would have liked to see Ben Carson on the ticket."

Two of her liberal co-hosts visibly grimaced while co-host Raven-Symoné made a blatantly disgusted face and rolled her eyes.

Shocked, co-host Paula Farris asked, "You would have been comfortable with-with two guys that had no political experience being on the ticket?!"

"Ya, I would have," Cameron replied. "But, I think that Ben Carson...there may be a platform as secretary of education. I liked Ben Carson."

"But," Cameron added, "Pence does have connections within the party to get things done."

"And to bring some money in," co-host Jedediah Bila interjected.

"Exactly," Cameron replied
