On Monday, November 27th, 33-year-old Prince Harry and 36-year-old American actress Meghan Markle announced their engagement. The happy couple met in Summer of 2016 through a mutual friend and have been inseparable ever since.
Harry, who publicly noted that he knew Meghan was “the one” from the first time they met, is ecstatic to call her his wife. He unexpectedly proposed to his then-girlfriend over a romantic dinner at home, and of course, she said “yes!”
Earlier, it was announced that the two would wed next Spring. More specific details regarding their upcoming wedding were revealed on Tuesday morning.
According to the Guardian, the Prince and his soon-to-be Princess will marry at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle sometime in May of 2018, having a “happy church wedding.” KTLA pointed out that this is a royal tradition—most recently, Harry’s cousin Peter Phillips married Autumn Kelly in 2008 at the same venue.
Their wedding will, most likely, come shortly after the birth of Prince William’s third child with Kate Middleton. A spokesperson for the couple confirmed that the wedding will be paid for by the Royal family; it is unclear if the bride's family will contribute.
Prior to the big day, Ms. Markle is expected to officially become a British citizen and be baptized into the Church of England.
Originally, their engagement was controversial given that Meghan is a divorced biracial American woman. However, the Royal family has made it clear that she is happily welcomed into their family by offering their blessing.
