Native Texan Selena Gomez gets choked up in a new video appeal. In the video, which was made for the hurricane relief telethon "Hand in Hand," Gomez asked fans to donate to help victims of Harvey and Irma.
Gomez, 25, is best known for her time on Disney's "Wizards of Waverly Place," her pop music, and her highly-publicized relationship with fellow singer Justin Bieber. She was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, and she's using her fame to help out people in her home state.
In the video, Gomez cries as she asks her fans to help out by donating to the relief effort.
“Neighbor helping neighbor, without stopping to think about race, religion or anything else,” says Gomez, who is clearly holding back tears. “If we are going to get through all the storms that confront us that’s how we’re going to do it together—hand in hand,”
Gomez is just one of the A-List actors that will be apart of the telethon. Gomez's ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber will be there, along with Beyonce, George Clooney, Drake, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and more.
The special will include performances and taped tributes. It will be broadcasted on several networks: ABC, CBS, FOX, HBO, and Bravo. Their goal is to raise as much money as possible to aid people impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and any other hurricanes that may follow.
"Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief" will air live tomorrow, September 12, at 8 p.m. EST on major networks and handinhand2017.com. Will you be watching? In other hurricane news, Florida and other Southern states may still have to face their biggest threat from Hurricane Irma.
