Walmart is officially issuing an apology after a picture of a merchandise display in one of their stores is going viral. The picture was first seen on Twitter last week.

The image shows a gun display in a Walmart store with a horribly placed sign directly above it. It appears to be advertising guns as a “back to school” item.

“Own the school year like a hero,” the sign reads. It is unclear at this time what Walmart location this is in or how long it was on display.

Walmart has since issued an apology for the display. They called the image “truly awful” and “horrible” and said they are investigating it.

“What’s seen in this photograph would never be acceptable in our stores,” Walmart spokesperson Charles Crowson told The Washington Post. “We regret this situation and are looking into how it could have happened.”
