In a recent interview with David Brody from CBN News, Vice President Pence spoke out about the role that faith plays in the current administration. The vice president talked about his role as a support to the president and how prayer has been a pivotal part of their leadership.
VP Pence spent a portion of the interview talking about how there were some definite challenges in 2017, but that the knowledge that people were praying for and with him is what kept him strong.
He said, "I think President Trump has a heart of gratitude for the evangelical Christians in this country. I have to tell you, the sweetest words the president and I ever hear, and we hear them a lot, are when people grab us by the hand and say, 'We're praying for you.'"
"I've been with this president in the Oval Office, with religious leaders, when people have asked to pause for a moment of prayer and the president readily embraces that," he continued. "I think he's always very humbled and grateful [for] the support of believers. But, let me be clear: President Trump is a believer and so am I."
VP Pence went on to talk about the significant role that faith plays in the current White House administration. He said that Christians can be assured that they are in good hands with a leader who values faith.
He said, "And we understand the role of faith in the life of this nation, and the American people I think can be encouraged to know that in President Donald Trump, they have a leader who embraces and respects and appreciates the role of faith and the importance of religion in the lives of our families, in [our] communities, [and] in our nation, and he always will."
When asked about his views on 2017, Pence said that his high point was to "serve as vice president to a president whose focus is so much on the safety and security of the American people." He said that the biggest challenges were the natural disasters that occurred this summer as well as the tragic Las Vegas shooting.
Regardless of challenges that come their way, VP Pence and President Trump are committed to keeping intentional prayer at the center of their leadership styles.
