A tragic story is making headlines around the nation after 7 children have passed away due to a viral outbreak. The news is coming out of New Jersey.
According to reports from Fox News, an outbreak of a viral illness has killed seven pediatric patients and sickened 11 others at a New Jersey rehabilitation facility as health officials continue to investigate the cause. The Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, located in Haskell, has been instructed by the state’s health department not to admit any new patients until the outbreak has ended.
Health officials have begun investigations into this mysterious illness. They have just confirmed the adenovirus 7 has been found.
"Adenoviruses can cause a wide range of illnesses, including the common cold, sore throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, diarrhea, pink eye, fever, bladder infection, inflammation of the stomach or neurologic diseases. While they typically cause mild illnesses, people with weakened immune systems or existing respiratory or cardiac disease are at higher risk of developing a severe illness," reported Fox News.
The Wanaque Center is currently being investigated by health officials at this time. They are attempting to locate a source for the infection or to find out how it is spreading so quickly to so many different patients. 11 more children have been hospitalized as their bodies try and fight off the virus.
Please join us in praying for all the children who have been affected by this tragedy. We hold their families in our prayers and ask for God's loving mercy to comfort and surround them at this dark time.
