On her former father-in-law's birthday, Vanessa Trump felt compelled to break her silence about her husband's rumored relationship with Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle.
The media has been attacking Guilfoyle, 49, since rumors surfaced that she was dating Donald Trump's oldest son, Donald Trump Jr. Vanessa couldn't let the media continue their diatribe against the host without voicing her opinion, reported People.
Trump took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to set the record straight. She made it clear that she doesn't hold ill-will against Guilfoyle.
“The lengths people will go to attack a woman simply because she’s dating Don,” Vanessa, 40, tweeted. “We’ve been separated for over 9 months and respect each other’s decisions & privacy. We’ll focus on raising our great kids. Would be nice if the press did the same rather than obsess over our pvt lives!”
Vanessa and Don filed for divorce in March 2018. Since then, they have been amicably parenting their five children: Kai Madison, 10, Donald III, 9, Tristan, 6, Spencer, 5, and Chloe, 3. They even reunited for Easter in April, traveling to Mar-a-Lago with their children and then to the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll.
Vanessa's tweet came after an angry tweet Trump Jr.’s earlier on Thursday. Trump, 40, had been responding a column by the New York Daily News, which asked for Guilfoyle to be fired from her Fox News show, "The Five," because she's romantically involved with a Trump.
In the tweet, Trump expressed his outrage over the article's suggestion that Guilfoyle should be “picking grapes." He said the comment was racist due to Guilfoyle’s Puerto Rican heritage.
He wrote, "How did this get past her editors at the @NYDailyNews? Or do they condone this kind of talk? I guess hypocrisy, sexism & racist rhetoric are alive & well there."
People on social media lauded Vanessa for her decision to support her ex-husband. They respected her for the grace she showed in the difficult situation.
