Horrible Update: At Least 1 Student Killed, Several Injured During School Shooting

Some absolutely tragic news was reported on Tuesday, May 7 out of Colorado. A school shooting took place at STEM School Highlands Ranch at South Ridgeline Boulevard and Plaza Drive in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

The initial news was reported out of the Douglas Country Sheriff’s Office. Initial reports noted that several people had been injured and that there were at least two suspects. 

Now, some disheartening news has been confirmed. At least one student has been killed in this tragic incident.

The authorities wrote, “It is with extreme sadness that we can confirm that 1 student at the STEM School was killed in today’s #stemshooting incident. The immediate family has been notified. Douglas County Coroner Jill Romann has not officially identified the student but is stating it’s an 18-year-old male.”

The STEM School Highlands was founded in 2011. It is home to grades K-12 and more than 1,850 students currently attend.

Sadly, police are saying that at least 7 others have been injured in this horrible shooting. It is unclear whether they are students or staff.

New reports have emerged, claiming that the two suspects are currently in custody. They are believed to be a man and a boy.

According to sources, the two suspects made it “deep into the school” when they began shooting. They were both arrested after struggling with the officers.
