A famous broadcaster, and father of two children, has overcome extraordinary odds. According to reports, Richard Bacon was recently fighting for his life after a mysterious illness had baffled doctors.
The former "Blue" Peter host was in a critical condition for a week, after initially being diagnosed with pneumonia across both lungs. The doctors were said to be taking a last-ditch effort at saving his life by putting him in a medically induced coma.
“This is an extremely worrying time for everyone who loves him. Doctors started treating him for pneumonia but it soon became apparent that it wasn’t working and his condition took a dramatic turn for the worse. They had no choice but to put him into a medically induced coma to save his life because things spiraled so fast, but that was a week ago and they are no closer to finding out what is wrong with him or how to help him," reported The Sun.
Bacon is a radio host based out of Los Angeles. He is 42 years old. He was recently flying to London last week when he became ill and had to be transported off the plane in a wheelchair. Once at the hospital, he even made a joke of the event and posted about it on social media. No one imagined he would take a turn for the worst.
However, we have some good news to reports! Bacon is expected to be released from the hospital! He took to Twitter to thank one very special person for sticking by his side through the entire ordeal: his wife.
"Last full day in the hospital. Every facet of my life would be worse without Rebecca in it. How will I ever thank her? I was in a coma for nine or ten nights (I just learned). That’s a lot of staring at your husband and his pipes. And a lot of worry," he wrote.
