Recently, Lori Loughlin and her husband made headlines after the college admission scandal broke. They were accused of fraud by allegedly paying for their daughters to illegitimately attend the University of Southern California. Fans were shocked to learn the details of the accusations.
"Loughlin and Giannulli, 55, are accused of bribing their daughters' ways into USC by paying $500,000 to scam mastermind William "Rick" Singer. Singer reportedly aided Giannulli and Loughlin's daughters, YouTube star Olivia Jade and aspiring actress Isabella, get recruited to the USC crew team despite neither girl being a rower," according to Fox.
Lori and her husband want to clear their name and restore their reputations. They have just asked for a trial so they can tell their side of the story and profess their innocence.
"Lori Loughlin wants to go to trial to preserve her reputation following the allegations against her and husband Mossimo Giannulli in the college admissions scandal, a new report claims," wrote Fox.
A source says this is the only way Lori feels she can be vindicated.
“Lori feels like so much damage has been done publicly that the only way for her to counter it is to fight this case in court. She feels like once all the evidence is presented, that people will understand how things happened.”
Lori's legal team has said they are extremely confident in their case and they don't think it will end with prison time for the actress or her husband. However, it is a possibility. According to Loughlin's reps, the actress and her husband don't deserve to be behind bars.
“Lori’s situation has gone from bad to worse. Jail time has always been a possibility, but since more charges were filed her reality [of not serving time] seems grim," a source close to the 54-year-old former "When Calls the Heart" star told Entertainment Tonight. "While the fact she could serve time never leaves her mind, she strongly believes she doesn’t deserve to. She truly feels it was all a misunderstanding."
Lori reportedly wants to move forward with her life and put this saga to rest once and for all. However, it seems she and her family will be dealing with this for a long time to come. They still have to go through the normal court process and it could take months. The situation has already had a massive impact on the Loughlin family. One of Lori's daughters, Olivia Jade, is reportedly furious at her parents for the scandal. Time will tell if the family is ever able to reconcile.
“Olivia Jade is totally over it and won’t listen to anything her parents say now. She is in no way ready to forgive anything her parents have done," the source said. "Lori doesn’t understand Olivia’s reaction. She seems to feel her act was selfless and misunderstood and she wants to prove she had all the best intentions and even that she was, in some way, duped into breaking the law.”
