Many fans of the popular rock band U2 are furious with their most recent political statement. The Irish band has just tweeted their support for the legalization of abortion in Ireland.

The band tweeted a photo that read "Repeal the 8th." The photo is part of the campaign for the abortion referendum, which is coming up on May 25.

In 1983, Irish people enacted the Eighth Amendment to the constitution, which states: 'The State acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and, as far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right.”

Their tweet comes after the band, including lead singer Bono, has been outspoken about their Christian beliefs. Fans of the group have voiced their disappointment in them supporting this repeal. Some even said they could no longer be fans of a band who would support such a campaign.
