The Los Angeles Angels family is still coping with the tragic news of pitcher Tyler Skaggs’ sudden death. As previously reported, the 27-year-old baseball star passed away on Monday, July 1st.

He was found unresponsive in his Texas hotel room. The cause of death was not immediately clear, but police did confirm that there were no signs of foul play or suicide, reported CNN.

An update was recently released in the Skaggs investigation. According to Deadline, and SiLive rumors circulated that Skaggs died of an opioid overdose after the Santa Monica Observer speculated without any credible information. However, local police assured, “there is no information at this stage suggesting an overdose.”

The results of an autopsy report are expected to be released in 90 days, potentially sooner. CNN noted that other tests are being conducted, but it unclear what kind. Those who were close to Skaggs did not mention of any medical issues, mental health struggles, or knowledge of substance abuse.

The former pitcher leaves behind his new wife, Carli. The two were just married late last year and reportedly talked of starting a family before he tragically passed away.

Please pray for Carli and Skagg’s family members during this difficult time. God bless them! Stay tuned for additional details in the investigation.
