2 Star Athletes, Ages 33 and 37, Killed in Tragic Car Crash, Fans in Mourning

Baseball fans are in complete mourning on Friday as the sad news has been confirmed that two former MLB stars have been killed. Luis Valbuena and Jose Castlilo were both killed in a horrible car accident on Thursday.

33-year-old Valbuena was a Los Angeles player, while 37-year-old Jose Castillo was a former journeyman infielder. The official Major League Baseball social media account wrote a post about the sad news.

They said, “We are saddened by the tragic news that Luis Valbuena and former major leaguer Jose Castillo have died in a car accident.”

According to Fox News, the pair was playing in a Venezuelan winter baseball league together on the Cardenales de Lara. They were driving on Thursday when they reportedly hit a rock and went off of the road.

The driver of the vehicle was former Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Carlos Rivero, who thankfully has survived the accident.

The Angels wrote, “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Angels Luis Valbuena and former MLB infielder Jose Castillo. Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones during this time of grief.”
