While the Bush family is mourning the loss of their matriarch, Barbara Bush, they are also celebrating a new life in their midst. Just two days after former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away in her home in Houston, the Bush family welcomed a baby boy, reported ABC News affiliate ABC 7.
Neil Bush, who is the fourth of George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush's six children, announced the birth on his Facebook. The new baby boy is the son of his daughter, Lauren.
Neil Bush announced his new grandson on Facebook on Friday. He also shared a photo of the baby.
He started out the post by remembering his mother: "Maria and I were so blessed to spend lots of time with mom and dad during mom's last weeks and we are so grateful for the condolences and the outpouring of love expressed towards her by many, many friends. Barbara Bush was loved by everyone. She lived a remarkable life blessing family, friends, and total strangers around the world."
He continued, "Mom left on her own terms. In the final hours she was comfortable, loving, surrounded by family, holding hands with dad. Maria and I will always be grateful for being able to say a proper goodbye to our wonderful mother."
Later in the post, he shifted tones to be celebratory: "And then two days later, yesterday morning, two weeks before her due date, Lauren Bush Lauren gave birth to a beautiful 7 lb 8 oz baby boy Max Walker Lauren. The circle of life. God is good."
His daughter Lauren Bush Lauren and her husband David Lauren, vice chairman and chief innovation officer of Ralph Lauren Corp, welcomed their 7 pound 8 ounces baby boy on April 19. His name is Max Walker Lauren.
The Laurens, who have been married since 2011, also have a 2-year-old son, James. Max Walker is the eighth grandchild for George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush.
Please join us in praying for the Bush family. George H.W. Bush released a statement after his wife's passing that's faith-filled and touching.
