A pediatrics study has been getting a lot of attention recently after claiming that one, pediatricians shouldn’t promote breastfeeding as “natural,” and, two, we shouldn’t promote breastfeeding because it implies that “women should be the primary caretakers of children.”
Fox News host Tucker Carlson identified those statements as liberal bilge and decided to take on one of their supporters, the feminist publisher of Catalina Magazine, Cathy Areu.
In a contentious debate with Carlson, Aeru started out by saying, “Breastfeeding isn’t exactly natural. It doesn’t come naturally to women.”
She then argued that women should not feel that men can’t help feed a child through formula.
Carlson agreed, but said, “That’s not really what’s going on here. This is gender politics intruding on the personal decisions that parents make.”
“Well, we need it, though,” Aeru insisted.
“[The study is] suggesting, by the way, that men can breastfeed,” Carlson pointed out before sarcastically adding, “Which I don’t think they can. Can they?”
“I don’t know!” Aeru incredibly replied.
