Just ahead of Memorial Day weekend, President Trump and First Lady Melania visited Arlington National Cemetery as part of an annual tradition.
The First Couple participated in the “flags in” Memorial Day ritual, where they post small American flags into the ground in front of various headstones. The point of the tradition is to honor service members who were killed in the nation’s wars.
According to ABC News, eight active-duty soldiers assisted President Trump and First Lady Melania. For the visit, Melania wore a sleeveless black dress while the president wore a black suit.
Below are some of the special photos of the visit:
Melania took to social media after the visit to post lovely photos and talk about it.
She wrote, “Honored to be at @ArlingtonNatl today & take part in #FlagsIn to remember our fallen heroes. God Bless our military, their families & God Bless our great Nation! @USArmyOldGuard.”
This Memorial Day, we are thankful for the men and women who have given their lives for our nation!
In other recent news, Melania made another amazing visit this week honoring some Purple Heart recipients.
