Trump Shames Senate Democrats After "Extreme" Vote

February 26, 2019Feb 26, 2019

The Senate just blocked a bill that would seek to protect babies that survived abortion. Called the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, the bill would prosecute doctors that failed to provide standard medical care to babies that survived abortion.

Shockingly, the Senate voted it down. The bill’s chief sponsor, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), was incredulous. “I want to ask each and every one of my colleagues whether or not we’re OK with infanticide,” he thundered to his fellow politicians, shares Fox News.

"This is about the most simple thing you can say, which is that a baby is a baby, and they have dignity and worth," Sasse said. "And it's not because they're powerful. It's because they're babies. Today is a sad day in the United States Senate."

President Trump, who had organized a conference call of 4,000 pro-lifers this month to support and pray for the bill, was shocked and outraged. He tweeted: "Senate Democrats just voted against legislation to prevent the killing of newborn infant children. The Democrat position on abortion is now so extreme that they don’t mind executing babies AFTER birth...This will be remembered as one of the most shocking votes in the history of Congress. If there is one thing we should all agree on, it’s protecting the lives of innocent babies."

The comments in response to his tweet were so mixed, showing how divided the nation is on both the understanding and reaction to late-term abortion. Some claimed that doctors don't perform late-term abortions on babies that are viable, while others talked about the inhumane cruelty of leaving a struggling baby to die in a dark room.

To be sure, this is a hot-button issue that has so much confusion around it, especially as new bills concerning late-term abortion are being hastily brought forth by Democrats. For example, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's new law allows for unquestioned abortions even up to the due date. That's a fully-formed baby who can now be killed, no matter how "healthy."

But surprisingly, more Americans are becoming pro-life, reports a recent poll. “In a substantial, double-digit shift … Americans are now as likely to identify as pro-life, 47 percent, as pro-choice, 47 percent,” reads a Marist poll done by the Catholic group, Knights of Columbus. “Among Democrats, the gap between pro-life and pro-choice identifiers was cut in half from 55 percent to 27 percent,” according to the poll. “The number of Democrats now identifying as pro-life is 34 percent, up from 20 percent last month, while the number identifying as pro-choice fell from 75 percent to 61 percent.”

So why the sudden push by Democrats to issue these gruesome bills and block any pro-life measures? Many point to 2020 Democratic candidates' attempt to appeal to left-wing voters. In fact, every single Democrat presidential hopeful has signed off on a proposed bill that would make due-date abortion legal in every state. That's quite shocking, if you think about a baby being ready for delivery, allowed to be killed without question.

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said Republicans who voted against the bill protecting born-alive babies should resign: “Senators who could not bring themselves to vote to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act should reconsider whether or not they have what it takes to serve. Senator Sasse’s common sense bill would merely require doctors assist a newborn struggling to survive after a failed attempt on her life. Anyone who lacks the basic level of human compassion needed to vote in favor of this should quickly find another job. We look forward to a vote in the House of Representatives so that Chamber can get on record as well.”

As President Trump said, this is a shocking vote that will go down in history. Hopefully, America will wake up and turn against these Democrats who are pushing abortion in unprecedented ways, all to get votes. Please pray with us for our country to do an about-face. Will you post your prayers and thoughts in the comments? Thank you so much!
