Trump Says He's 'Seriously Considering' Ben Carson For Big Position

While Dr. Ben Carson soared briefly in the Republican presidential nomination battle before dropping in the polls, he's always maintained a core group of supporters. And now President-Elect Donald Trump has something big in mind for the opponent-turned-surrogate.

According to CNN Money, Trump said he is "seriously considering" the retired neurosurgeon to lead the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

As secretary for the department, Carson would lead efforts in battling homelessness and housing discrimination and would oversee public housing programs, mortgage insurance, and rental subsidies.

Trump made the announcement on Twitter, writing, "I am seriously considering Dr. Ben Carson as the head of HUD. I've gotten to know him well—he's a greatly talented person who loves people!"

It's unclear if Carson will accept the nomination considering his recent spoken desire to work "from the outside and not from the inside" of Trump's administration.

He told the Washington Post, "I want to have the freedom to work on many issues and not be pigeonholed into one particular area."

Is this a role you'd like to Carson in?
