NBA star Lebron James made national headlines in July after using personal funds to open up a new school — I Promise School — for at-risk children in Akron, Ohio. As previously reported, the school offers several unique features such as an on-site food bank and providing college tuition for those who graduate.

James was recently interviewed by CNN’s Don Lemon regarding further details about the school, which James referred to as one of his greatest life accomplishments. At the end of the interview, the professional basketball player — a well-known critic of President Donald Trump — also took a shot at the President.

When Lemon asked what James would say to President Trump if he had the opportunity, he responded, “I would never sit across from him...I would sit across from Barack [Obama] though.”

Given that President Trump often addresses his critics, Trump supporters were anxious to see if the President would respond to James’ scathing interview. Over the weekend, Trump fired back at both James and Lemon in a Twitter post.

“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!” Trump stated referring to basketball legend Michael Jordan.

As of Saturday afternoon, James has not released an official response to Trump’s remarks. This article will be updated accordingly if James decides to do so.
