On Wednesday, July 18th, news broke that a U.S. Secret Service agent sadly passed away. As previously reported, the special agent suffered from a stroke while protecting President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania during their recent Europe trip.

Initially, his identity was not released to the public. However, he was later identified as Special Agent Nole Edward Remagen — a married father of two. Remagen spent 19 years with the organization and will be greatly missed.

Shortly after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a statement on behalf of the White House (below), President Trump responded to Remagen’s death with a heartwarming tribute.

“Earlier this week, United States Secret Service Special Agent Nole Edward Remagen suffered a stroke while on duty in Scotland,” the President began. “Yesterday, he passed away, surrounded by family and fellow Secret Service agents.”

“Our hearts are filled with sadness over the loss of a beloved and devoted Special Agent, husband, and father. Our prayers are with Special Agent Remagen’s loved ones, including his wife and two young children. We grieve with them and with his Secret Agent colleagues, who have lost a friend and brother,” President Trump continued.

Trump called the late agent “an elite hero” and assured that he and Melania were “deeply grateful” for his service to his country. He also declared his gratitude for all Secret Service agents for their “extraordinary skill, devotion, and courage.”
