Donald Trump wouldn’t reveal his choice for Vice President at this point in the race, but he does know exactly what he is looking for when the time comes for him to make a choice.
Trump has run his campaign based on the notion that he is a political outsider. According to CNN, Trump wants his VP to be a person on the inside of the political system.
“I do want somebody that’s political, because I want to get lots of great legislation we all want passed,” Trump said. “We’re going to probably choose somebody that’s somewhat political.”
“I’m also very, very political,” Trump added. “When you can get zoning on the west side of Manhattan to build almost 6,000 units of housing and you have to go through New York City politics, believe me, that’s tough.”
One of the major factors that will ultimately decide who Trump’s running mate is that the person he selects is someone who he ultimately believes would make a “great president” if a situation arose in which that person had to assume the presidency.
Trump is a businessman first and foremost. “I’d want someone who could help me with governing,” Trump said. “You want somebody that can help you with legislation, getting it through.”
