Trump Delivers Stern Message to Democrats Lobbying for DACA Provisions

President Trump on Friday issued a strong warning to Democrats who have been pushing him to sign a bill making it easier for illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. to be made citizens.

Trump said in a Twitter post that there would be no such thing without the construction of a wall built to protect the U.S.’s southern boundary.

“The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc. We must protect our Country at all cost!”

In September, Trump ended Obama’s executive action called DACA, otherwise known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. The purpose of the program was to issue work permits to illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children, granting them certain protections from deportation, according to The Daily Caller

So far, 700,000 persons have been DACA recipients in the United States since the program started. And Democrats have been unwilling to budge on the program.

But Trump’s stance, indicated by his tweet, states that he would only authorize a DACA bill if provisions were made for a southern border wall. He has also stressed that there needs to be a reformation of the legal immigration system.

Chain migration refers to the practice of allowing recent immigrants to legally sponsor visas for relatives to come to the United States. In 2016 alone, 1.8 million immigrants, both legal and illegal, entered and settled in the United States.

That number is up 53 percent from 2011, when 1.1 million immigrants entered and settled in the United States. The terrorists of the recent New York bombing were shown to be beneficiaries of either chain migration or the diversity visa lottery program, according to The Daily Caller
