On Tuesday, March 12th, the FBI went public with a shocking news report confirming that at least 50 people were facing criminal charges in a college bribery scam. Parents reportedly paid large amounts of money — $25 million collectively — in order to get their children into the college of their choice.
Among the 33 elite parents who paid bribes include actress Lori Loughlin, 54. Loughlin, who is famously known as “Aunty Becky” from “Full House” and the spin-off series “Fuller House,” allegedly paid $500,000 in exchange for getting her two daughters into the University of Southern California.
She, among the other elite bribers, was arrested and is being charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud. As previously reported, this act is punishable up to a $250,000 fine and a possibility of up to 20 years in prison. However, it is unlikely that the parents will face prison time.
Daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli, 19, has been suffering massive repercussions since news broke about the college admissions scandal. According to Page Six, TRESemmé dropped Giannulli — a famed YouTube and Instagram star — as one of their influencers.
This news comes shortly after Giannulli was also dropped by Sephora. The 19-year-old has several other partnerships with selected beauty and fashion brands. It is likely that others will cut ties with the young social media star as the news surrounding the scandal intensifies.
“Hi there, After careful review of recent developments, we have made the decision to end the Sephora Collection partnership with Olivia Jade, effective immediately,” the beauty company said in a statement.
