Tragic End to Amber Alert for 12-Year-Old Who Disappeared with Grandmother

In early August, an AMBER alert was issued for a 12-year-old girl in Virginia, who was believed to be in extreme danger. Angie Carolina Rodriguez Rubio, the subject of the Amber Alert, disappeared along with her grandmother, who police believe was abducted along with her grandmother in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Now, there's been an incredibly sad update. The bodies of Angie had her grandmother, 48-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio, have been discovered by authorities, reported a local Fox affiliate.

The Rockingham County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office announced the tragic news on Thursday. The bodies were found at the Shenandoah National Park in Shenandoah County.

Authorities said the victims were abducted and killed by Hareto Jaime Rodriguez Sariol, who entered a plea agreement on two counts of first-degree murder. Officials said Sariol led investigators to the bodies.

As noted in the AMBER Alert, the child and grandmother were last seen with Sariol in Harrisonburg the afternoon of Aug. 5. Sariol also had a history of infatuation with the grandmother.

Sariol faces 20 years to life in prison for each count of first-degree murder, according to officials.

Virginia State Police are searching for 12-year-old Angie Carolina Rodriguez Rubio and her grandmother, 48-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio. Authorities say they are believed to have been abducted by Hareton Jaime Rodriguez-Sariol.

They have been missing since Sunday afternoon. On Tuesday, police apprehended Rodriguez-Sariol, but they have no been able to find the girl and her grandmother. He was found in Pennsylvania.

According to the Amber Alert, the missing child and her grandmother were last seen with Rodriguez-Sariol at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in Harrisonburg.

“The abductor’s vehicle in which they were all believed to be traveling in was involved in a vehicle fire on I-66 in Warren County,” according to the Amber Alert. “The abductor is now believed to be traveling to New York in another vehicle.”

Before Rodriguez-Sariol was taken into custody, authorities said they were believed to have been traveling north in a white 2000 Volvo Tractor Trailer with Virginia tag 21739PZ.

Angie is described as a Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5-feet-1-inches tall, and she weighs 112 pounds. She was wearing a black blouse with flowers, black leggings, and white sandals.

The girl’s grandmother is described as a Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black skirt and burgundy blouse.
