Tragedy: Hurricane Irma Death Toll Continues to Rise

September 07, 2017Sep 07, 2017

Only weeks after Category 4 Hurricane Harvey took the lives of more than 60 people and left billions of dollars in damage, Category 5 Hurricane Irma was brewing in the Atlantic. Irma made its first landfall on Wednesday, striking the Caribbean and later made its way to Puerto Rico.

Just days in, Irma has created a tragedy. Many properties in the path of the hurricane have been destroyed, massive power outages have resulted from the storm, and over a dozen lives have been lost.

According to Fox News, 13 people have been confirmed dead as of early Thursday, September 7th. The death toll is expected to drastically increase as Irma travels towards the east coast of the United States.

While still handling the devastating aftermath of destructive Hurricane Harvey, the U.S. is preparing for another tragic situation with Hurricane Irma, which is expected to crash Florida on Sunday. Currently, it is unclear exactly when and where in south Florida the hurricane will hit.

Forecasters and authorities are continuously urging citizens to follow their area’s instructions, making it clear that it is possible to replace your homes, vehicles, and possessions, but it is not possible to replace your life or your family. Recommendations should be taken very seriously.
