“I Can Only Imagine,” a new Christian film based on the story behind MercyMe’s infamous song, hit theatres on March 16th, 2018. According to Variety, the faith-based film has brought in more than $17 million in its first couple days and is expected to continue to have skyrocketing ticket sales.

Country music star Trace Adkins plays Scott Brickell, MercyMe's manager, in the film. Adkins recently spoke with CBN News about why he made the decision to be a part of this movie, and additionally, gave a powerful message to Christians.

Adkins told CBN that he was “blown away by the whole story” and admires the film’s meaning about hope and redemption.

"That's what Andy Erwin, one of the co-directors of the movie, told me. He said this is a story about redemption, and I said, 'Sign me up. I could use a dose of it,'" the country singer revealed.

"That should be the takeaway from this film — that nobody is beyond hope, nobody is beyond redemption," he continued.

Adkins’ important message reminds Christians of God’s hope and redemption for us. The Bible discusses these significant concepts in several books, but has an overwhelming number of references in Ephesians.

Ephesians 1:7

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”

Ephesians 4:30

“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
