One of the world’s most celebrated British artists has come down with a mysterious illness. Please pray for him.
You may have heard some of his most popular tunes, including “It’s Not Unusual,” “What’s New Pussycat,” and “Green Green Grass of Home.” Sadly, Tom Jones has been forced to cancel a second show due to a mysterious illness that has hospitalized him.
The 78-year-old singer expressed his regret for doing so in a Twitter post, writing, “It is with regret that we have to postpone Tom Jones’ performance at Chester Racecourse this evening.”
According to the Mirror, Jones has a bacterial infection that requires his hospitalization. The singer made the decision upon the advice of his doctors who told him to rest, after falling ill.
“The condition is being well managed and we are hoping for a speedy recovery,” the Twitter post continues.
“He is extremely sorry and disappointed not to be able to perform tonight and sincerely apologizes for inconveniences caused to the audience and all those who are involved in the event.”
Jones, feeling remorse for having canceled his show, tweeted from his hospital bed his regret: “I am so sorry for cancelling last night’s show in Chichester, it’s the worst feeling to let down everyone who was coming as well as everyone who is involved with the event,” he wrote.
“I know many of you travel considerable distances and make plans with friends and family and take a lot of effort, and it is so disappointing when things don’t go right.”
Jones ended his tweet by writing, “The good news is that we can get another date in Chester on August 12, so hopefully I will see you there.”
