In June of 2016, New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady’s entire world changed. His mother, Galynn, was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.
During the 2016-2017 football season, Galynn was unable to attend several of Brady’s games due to her ongoing cancer treatments of radiation and chemotherapy. However, she was able to see her beloved son take the Super Bowl championship title against the Atlanta Falcons.
The star quarterback provided a recent health update on his mother, reported PEOPLE on March 18th.
“She’s doing really well,” Brady said. “I think any family that has dealt with cancer realizes the challenge it is not only at that moment, but as it continues to be.”
“I think she’s got so much appreciation for the people who have supported her,” he continued. “She’s such a wonderful woman and she’s been so positive through it all and [our family has] been so proud of her.”
Previously, ahead of Super Bowl LI, Brady’s mother opened up about how important it was for her to support her son in his sports career.
“I think there’s a special bond between a mother and a son,” she stated. “I just wanted to be there for Tommy, and I wanted to be there with our family. Everybody was going to the Super Bowl and I didn’t want to miss that.”
Brady also made headlines recently for cutting off his hair in support of cancer research. The cause has become very dear to his heart since his mother’s battle with cancer. See the photos here.
Please continue to keep their family in your prayers! In Jesus’ name, may the cancer not return.
