On the first stop of the popular country music couple’s Soul2Soul tour in New Orleans, McGraw and Hill made an announcement that sent shockwaves through the venue.
Just 30 minutes into the performance, McGraw spotted a sign in the audience asking for the singers to announce the gender of their baby.
Apparently fans Deanna and Jeremy DeArmond are expecting their third child and had agreed to not know the gender unless Tim McGraw and Faith Hill would announce it at the concert that night.
The DeArmond’s knew it was a long shot, Deanna told Taste of Country.
But McGraw, after noticing the DeArmond’s sign, asked for the envelope.
“He happened to look in our direction and he said, ‘Hold on, let’s see what this is about,’ and they called us up to the stage,” recalled Deanna.
McGraw took the envelope and, after stopping the show, spoke into his microphone. “And the Oscar goes to… It says ‘La La Land!” he joked.
Hill quickly took the envelope from him and read the results herself. “It’ a boy!” she said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Looks like Baby DeArmond is off and running to an auspicious start.
