Tragic: Mother of 3, Wife of Former Football GM Loses Cancer Battle, Dies at 49

The sad news was just reported that Tiffany Smith, the wife of the Houston Texans’ former general manager Rick Smith, has passed away. She died after a long battle with cancer.

Rick Smith released a statement announcing his wife’s death.

He wrote, “Tiffany Avery Smith my wife of 17 years, passed away today at 12:00 noon, after a fierce battle with Breast Cancer. She was beautiful, courageous, and a wonderful wife and mother.”

He continued, “I was honored to be her husband and I loved her dearly. My family and I, are in such gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we have received during her course of treatments.”

He concluded, “Thank you for your prayers, well wishes, dinners, rides to school, and all the many gestures of love and support we’ve received during this time. We are blessed to be in this community. God bless you all.”

Tiffany had many successes throughout her life. She was a TV producer, life-coach, mentor, and board member. Additionally, she was known to be an amazing wife, and mother to three children.

Rick stepped away from his role as general manager after the 2017 season. He was taking a leave of absence in order to help his wife as she faced cancer.

At the time, Rick told the team that he would be returning. He became Houston’s general manager in 2006 and worked with them for 12 seasons.
