Peter Fonda has found himself staring at the brutal reality ahead of him after the horrific remarks he made on twitter about Barron Trump. In a since deleted typo-filled rant, Hollywood actor Peter Fonda tweeted that "we should rip Barron Trump from his mother's arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles and see if mother will will stand up against the giant a**hole she is married to. 90 million people in the streets on the same weekend in the country. F**k."

Just a little over a week after his twitter rant, “Boundaries,” the latest film starring Peter Fonda opened in theaters. The box office numbers that came in following the film’s release are eye-opening.

The film which also starred Christopher Plummer and Vera Farmiga was only able to wrangle in a measly $30,395 in it’s opening week. The film played on 5 screens and averaged $6,079 per screen, according to The Wrap. It’s hard to imagine with numbers that low that the film would get a wider release in the future.

Sony Pictures Classics released the film despite major backlash. After a groundswell of outrage over Fonda’s comments, Sony issued a statement condemning Fonda’s “abhorrent” remarks but backed the films release because shelving it “would unfairly penalize the filmmaker Shana Feste’s accomplishment, the many actors, crew members and other creative talent that worked hard on the project.”

Peter Fonda released a statement after his violent comments spread like wildfire. He apologized for the comments but attributed them to President Trump enforcing federal immigration law. “Like many Americans, I am very impassioned and distraught over the situation with children separated from their families at the border, but I went way too far,” Fonda explained in his statement. “It was wrong and I should not have done it.”

Donald Trump Jr. was quick to point out the rampant hypocrisy in Hollywood.

After such abysmal numbers, it will be a hard sell to get Hollywood producers and directors clamoring for Peter Fonda’s services.

Do you think Peter Fonda should be held to the same standards that Roseanne Barr was held to?
