Theft Gone Wrong Turned Into Violent Stabbing Attack at Mall of America

On Sunday night, two people were stabbed at the largest mall in the United States. The attack took place at Macy's, near the "Santa Experience" area of the mall.

The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. in the men's department of Macy's. According to the New York Post, the attack began as a simple theft. Bloomington police officials said that the suspect had snuck into the fitting rooms of two men who were showing their clothes to their friends outside.

The theft tried to steal some of the men's items inside of their fitting rooms. After, the pair noticed the thief and attempted to stop him. Then, the suspect pulled a knife on the victims and attacked them both.

Eventually, other shoppers came to the rescue and brought down the suspect before cops were able to report to the scene. One of the victims was reportedly stabbed in the back, while another sustained multiple stabbing wounds.

Thankfully, the two victims who were injured are expected to recover. However, many of the onlookers of the situation have said that they will not soon forget the horror of the incident.

Julene Situma, a woman who was shopping at the time of the attack, tweeted about the incident.

She said, "Just lived through the scariest experience of my life. I heard something screaming, 'He got me! He got me!' I knew something was not right. Some other shoppers ran toward the screaming, and someone (who I believe was the victim's brother) yelled '911!' I called the police and hid."

Sadly, some of the kids in line for the "Santa Experience" saw the aftermath of the attack. Kim Schwieters was in line to see Santa with her three children when the incident took place.

She said, "My daughter could see people lying on the ground who had been stabbed...We saw two cops running toward Macy's. By the time we got to the main area- the men's department is to the right- more police started running in with their guns drawn."

According to Time, Macy's was shut down for the rest of the day after the attack, but the rest of the mall stayed open.

We are thankful that there were not more serious injuries and are praying for peace over those who witnessed this attack. In other breaking news, an NFL player and his wife just shared devastating news about their unborn son. Please join us in praying for them.
