In 2018, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, 36, pled guilty to tax evasion. The former “Jersey Shore” star reportedly concealed a portion of his income to prevent paying the full amount in owed taxes.

He was officially sentenced to 8 months in prison last year. His sentence began Tuesday, January 15th and he is expected to be released later this year.

This unfortunate situation comes shortly after Mr. Sorrentino married his college sweetheart. The two wed November of 2018, just a few months before Sorrentino was placed behind bars.

Ahead of their wedding day, Sorrentino’s attorney previously stated, “Michael accepts the court’s judgment. He is looking forward to marrying his college sweetheart ... and moving forward together after he serves his sentence.”

His 39-year-old older brother, Marc Sorrentino, is also serving a 2-year prison sentence for preparing a false tax return, according to ABC News. It is unclear of the Sorrentino brothers’ tax-related charges are somehow related to one another.
