Dwayne Johnson, known across the globe as The Rock, knows how to show gratitude to the people around him. For example, he recently surprised his longtime stunt double with a gift that reduced his stuntman to tears.
Tanoai Reed has served as Johnson’s stuntman for 16 years, a career that has come not without a few bumps and bruises, which Johnson is readily aware.
“[Reed] has broken multiple bones, severed tendons, torn ligaments,” Johnson wrote on Instagram. “All done with one goal in mind – deliver the best movie possible in the world.”
Johnson tricked Reed into thinking that they were filming a behind-the-scenes video, according to Men's Health, since Reed had just returned from an on-set injury. Johnson told him how much he appreciated him, and then told him to turn and look behind him.
A brand new custom-built truck with a red ribbon was parked in the grass. It reduced Reed to tears.
Reed posted three words on Instagram following the gift, after he had time to process it: “Blessed beyond belief.”
