The County Music Awards won't be the same without one of country's biggest artists. Unfortunately, singer Kenny Chesney will not attend Wednesday nights award show.
Sadly, there is a heartbreaking reason behind Chesney's absence. The Country Music Association tweeted a statement explaining there has been a tragedy in his family.
“CMA Musical Event of the Year winner & Entertainer of the Year nominee @KennyChesney will be unable to appear on tonight’s telecast due to a death in the family," the statement reads.
Chesney was scheduled to perform during the CMAs and was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year. Earlier on Wednesday, it was announced that Chesney and David Lee Murphy was awarded Musical Event of the Year. The two won for their performances on "Everything's Gonna Be Alright."
