November 14, 2017Nov 14, 2017

The holidays are just around the corner and with Black Friday coming up, many shoppers will be scrambling for the perfect Christmas gift for a special kiddo in their life. Finding the perfect toy can be stressful, but “WATCH,” or World Against Toys Causing Harm, just made your decision a lot easier.

On Tuesday, November 14th, the non-profit organization published their “10 Worst Toys of 2017” list, noting which ten toys are the most dangerous on the market. If you’re nervous about purchasing a potentially harmful product for a child that you love, you can eliminate the options below from your gift ideas.

WATCH’s 10 Worst Toys of 2017 (information provided by USA Today):

1. “Itty Bittys” Baby Stacking Toys

This toy was recalled earlier this year over a choking hazard.

2. Pull Along Pony

The pony technically violates a federal law that requires strings on playpen and crib toys be less than 12 inches long, but found a "loophole" because it's designed to teach motor skills.

3. Wonder Woman Battle Sword

The sword has potential to cause facial damage or minor injuries.

4. Fidget Spinners

These popular gadgets have sparked a lot of controversy this year—including recalls and some retail locations removing them from shelves altogether—due to posing a choking hazard for younger children.

5. Spider-Man Spider-Drone

The fast-moving blades attached to the drone pose a serious danger to kids.

6. Nerf Zombie Strike Dreadbolt Crossbow

This toy can also cause facial injuries and is "inappropriate" for young children.

7. Slackers Slackline Classic Kit

The toy comes with a “severe injury” warning, including a chance for “strangulation hazard, especially with children.”

8. The Oval Xylophone

The toy does not properly label warnings concerning the drumstick, which a small child can accidentally use to obstruct their airway.

9. Jetts Heel Wheels

Sparklers located on the back of the heels have the ability to burn.

10.Brianna Babydoll

The doll's clothing items and ponytail holders can become a choking hazard for infants and toddlers.
