Our nation is under siege. But this siege is not a result of a foreign or domestic terrorist threat. The very institutions we have trusted with our nation’s security are the ones that are under siege. The establishment and their allies in the Department of Justice have launched an unprecedented, unanticipated raid on the Mar-a-Lago home of former President Donald Trump.
Our institutions have betrayed me. They have behaved in a way that is more like a third-world nation, where opposition battalions often raid the homes of their political opponent and often kill them. They have proven themselves wolves, but they have not donned sheep’s clothing.
This is a clear attempt by Trump to indict him for political gain. The establishment knows they have the upper hand and that most people will not blink an eye. A federal grand jury need not find probable cause for Trump to have broken a nebulous federal statute to indict him.
This is a long-standing tradition of the Justice Department, the establishment. The criminal bar is so low that it is difficult to indict that even innocent people are often involved in criminal proceedings. They are then forced to endure years of litigation.
This game has continued since Trump was elected president. Investigation after investigation resulted in indictment after accusation and guilty plea after guilty plea for respectable and benign officials, whose only transgression being supporting Trump and opposing his establishment.
The Justice Department is well aware that politicians in the United States are presumed guilty. They will use this fact to engage with absolute thuggery to use their vast resources to punish anyone who challenges their authority.
Just like the two impeachments of Trump, Democrats will also use this raid as a way to justify Trump’s criminality and involvement in high-level crimes. They will do exactly what they did during the impeachments. They’ll use their hatred for Trump to prove his criminal conduct, then punish him and use that punishment to prove he’s a criminal. It is a cruel circle.
The Justice Department, an establishment-run department, will do exactly the same. They will use this raid and inevitable indictment—one that they concocted themselves—as proof that Trump is a criminal. Guess what? It will be bought by people.
Trump did many horrible things while in power. He angered his supporters, which eventually led riot. He mocked his vice-president. He made snide remarks about fine people and allied himself with some horrible characters. This does not make him a criminal or a past president worthy of such punishment. Instead, the establishment has shown to the American people that there is such a thing as a political criminal—someone despised by the establishment.
In politics, it seems, if you can’t beat them, put them in prison.
Regardless of how the White House or the Justice Department spin this, the public’s faith in our institutions has been compromised. This incident has shown us that our institutions will bow down, and that people will take such actions out of fear of the same fate.
This was a terrible day for the United States. I regret the loss of institutions that were supposed to help us. America is still here. It is an ever-present power, which will destroy the darkness created by the wicked. The dreams of a beautiful America will whisper from behind the shoulders of honorable men who will forgo the seduction of power and rise to defend our nation’s values. These dark days will be overshadowed by the virtues that are liberty, hope, and freedom. We can look forward to a brighter tomorrow.
